Everyone involved with Wanda, Elouera, North Cronulla, Cronulla, Garie, Burning Palms and Era are invited to Round 7 of the Shute Shield at Forshaw Rugby Park.
The day is designed to bring friends and families from Surf Lifesaving Clubs together with members and guests of the Southern Districts Rugby Club to celebrate their community spirit and shared values.
On the day, Nippers will be selling raffle tickets and racing on the field at half time. Right after the Harry Gibbons Cup, the North Cronulla ‘Sea Lice’ Rugby Club will be competing in the Harry Gibbons Plate under lights vs Burraneer Seniors.
As the sun goes down we will have a DJ playing beats until 7:30pm then the talented Larger Than Lions duo until late with $15.00 meals will be on offer from our kitchen.
Tickets have been issued to each club, so please contact the Wanda Office on 9523 4343 or email to gain free entry on the day.
Wanda has finished 5th overall at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
“It’s a superb result and an all round club effort,” said Nathan Spinner, Wanda SLSC President.
“We crowned 9 new Australian Champions, achieved many medalists and top 6 finishes against the very best of surf sports in Australia.
“Our results came from all sections, which is really pleasing and shows strength across all our sport programs. Importantly, it’s not just about those who win medals – we had a large team of athletes who came up here and gave it there all in every race and contest, which counts for everything.
“We showed fantastic team spirit for the 9 days – it takes a great group of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters all working together to do well.
“Huge thanks to all our members who kept patrols going back at Wanda while so many of us were at Aussies,” said Mr Spinner.

SLS NSW – RESCUE OF THE MONTH WINNER
Congratulations to Lachlan Crawford, recognised as the SLS NSW Rescue of the Month. The Club is extremely proud of your efforts and to all involved.
Lachlan successfully rescued 2 near-drowning swimmers off track 15 at Wanda Beach on 27 December 2020 at approximately 3.43 pm. Lachlan was not on patrol at the time but was going for a body surf when he spotted the 2 POIs in trouble. Lachlan’s efforts to respond immediately to rescue these people certainly proved a positive outcome. Assistance was also aided by members of Elouera SLSC roving patrol, RWC operator Kane Hughes and Cameron Pyett and Jon Hayman Sutherland Shire Lifeguards. A great effort by all involved.
