GOTCHA4LIFE 24 HOUR ROW 2025

GOTCHA4LIFE 24 HOUR ROW 2025

Wanda SLSC took part in the GOTCHA4 LIFE 24 HOUR ROW which was held over the weekend of the 13th and 14th September, 2025. This is a fundraiser for the GOTCH4LIFE Foundation, which is a not for profit foundation dedicated to delivering preventative mental fitness campaigns, workshops, programs and resources in schools, sports clubs, workplaces and communities Australia-wide.

Wanda’s challenge was not only to raise funds and awareness for GOTCH4LIFE, but to keep 2 of the rowing machines occupied for the whole 24 hours which was achieved. Whilst the majority of the rowers were from the boat section, we were pleased to see club members and friends from all sections participating.

Some statistics from the weekend

  • Funds raised to date: $3,990
  • Number of participants: 50
  • Metres rowed: 930,100

Notable mentions include the current Australian Surf Lifesaving Master Champion Kessels Womens’ Vets Crew totalling almost 127,000 metres between them, the Wanderers filling in the midnight shift and our most junior rower, Nat Spinner totalling almost 38,000 metres on his own!

We were also blessed with a small amount of celebrity gracing our event. Thanks to Paul Gallen, who has rowed at all of our GOTCHA4 LIFE ROWS. Dani Jackovich, who represented the Stingers at the 2024 Olympic Games (winning a silver medal) came down for a row to inspire us along. GOTCHA4 LIFE founder Gus Worland visited us on Sunday morning to thank us for participating and stressing the need for programs such as those offered by the GOTCHA4 LIFE foundation in suicide prevention.

Thanks to all who donated to the cause and to our rowers who made the event a success. We look forward to participating next year.
