Gold Medallion Award Assessment Date : Saturday 6 December 2025

Course Dates: Induction – Wednesday 15 October, 6:30pm @ Wanda. Weekly sessions Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm and Saturday mornings @ 8am. Note: Saturday Session on 18 October to be held at Gunnamatta Bay at 8am.
Assessment: Saturday 6 December at 8am.
Description: Candidates learn the essential Patrolling skills, including Workplace safety, Surf awareness, Basic anatomy, Surf Rescues, Resuscitation and use of a Defibrilator, Emergency Care, Radio operation and communications, carries and supports and Basic Beach management.

Course Date: Tuesday 21st October from 6pm to 7:30pm, plus pre course online learning. Pre-requisite to ART. HeroHQ Facilitated.

Course Dates: Sunday mornings starting October 26th, then each Sunday till 16 November.
Description: Candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of an IRB Crew member. They will be trained in preparing the boat for operation, safely and effectively launching and landing the boat, learn to identify hazards, demonstrate safe crewing positions and retrieve patients from the water, (conscious and unconscious), perform pre- and post-operational checks of the IRB and complete the necessary paperwork. Work effectively with the IRB Driver.

Course Dates: Sunday mornings starting October 26th, then each Sunday till 16 November.
Description: Must hold Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew Certificate and be 17 at the time of assessment. The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in rescue operations.

Dates: Session 1 (Theory): Tuesday 28 Oct – Branch Office
Session 2 (Theory): Thursday 30 Oct Branch Office
Session 3 (Practical – all day) Saturday 01 Nov – Bate Bay Beach (TBC).
Description: This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to confidently manage a beach and a patrol as a Surf Life Saving Patrol Captain.
Please note:
Candidates MUST Be at least 17 years old. Hold an SLSA Bronze Medallion / Cert II. Have 2 years patrolling experience and must attend all 3 sessions.

Course Date: Tuesday 25 November from 6pm to 7:30pm, plus pre course online learning. Pre-requisite to ART. HeroHQ Facilitated.

For current SRC award holders who are upgrading to the Bronze Medallion ONLY

Assessment: Friday 3 October.
Description: Candidates learn the basic Patrolling skills, including Surf awareness, Surf Rescues, Resuscitation, Radio operation and communications

Requirements:

Have completed their SRC less than 3 years prior to commencing this training
Are currently proficient in SRC (SurfGuard reflective)
Have completed a minimum of 10 patrolling hours as a qualified SRC award holder (Surfguard reflective)
Will be 15 years on the date of final assessment

Dates: TBA.
Description: Candidates are trained in the use of oxygen as therapy, airway management devices and automated external defibrillators. They are given the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to an emergency situation.
Please note:
Candidates MUST hold the First Aid Certificate HLTAID011 to enrol and Must attend all sessions
