Congratulations to our Club Patron "Solly" who received an achievement award from the Japanese Lifesaving Association in appreciation for all his contributions to the Japanese lifesaving community over the years.


Solly thanks the members who participated in the Diggers Shield 10 x 25 swim relay race for the 2018 Diggers Shield on Thursday 15th Feb. They came 5th in the 5th lane! Whilst they didn't bring home the shield, everyone enjoyed the social occasion and of course the sausage sangas!

Wanda was lucky enough to have 3 members participate in the recent Surf Life Saving Sydney 18-25 Enrichment program.

The program gives participants the opportunity to develop leadership skills and engage with other members of Sydney Branch and beyond and it was great to see young members getting involved and taking on pressing issues.

Congratulations to Wanda Surf Life Saving Club's Zac Keelan Branch Rescue of the Month Winner for January. Zac gained his SRC award in October 2017 and was on his fourth patrol of the season on New Years Day and at around 5pm he noticed a swimmer splashing around in a rip.

"...Zac should be commended for his efforts. It is incidents like this that make everything we do as a Surf Club worthwhile. I am extremely proud of the Lifesaving team and the Club as a whole for achieving this..." says Wanda Surf Life Saving Club's Director of Lifesaving, Michael Bonnici👏👏

Congratulations to Riley Porteous who has won SLS Sydney Junior Lifesaver of the Year Award at the Branch Age Championships, 2018., 

Riley was selected from eight finalists, from across the Branch and we would also like to congratulate Zoe Jay who was also a finalist. Well done Zoe! Amazing to see great talent and future leaders such as Riley and Zoe going so well. Wanda Surf Life Saving Club is extremely proud of you.

Riley has been a long term member of Wanda Surf Club, and has also attended the SLS Sydney Juniors Development Program.

Riley will now attend the SLSNSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year Development Camp, and compete against 20 other Junior lifesavers from across ten other Branches, for the State Junior Lifesaver of the Year Award.

We wish him well.


Congratulations to Wanda's Riley Dixon who was selected in the Under 15's squad in the Youth Pathway Cup on Australia Day 2018. The Youth Pathway Cup is Surf Life Saving’s newest representative competition and will allow the brightest prospects at the U14 and 15 level test their skills against the best Australia has to offer.Well done Riley.

Congratulations must go to Sam Axiotis for receiving the Cook Community Award from Federal Treasurer and Federal Member for Cronulla, Scott Morrison, on Saturday 2nd December 2017.

Sam was recognised for his contribution to our club in many areas, in particular, in our IRB Section. Sam is our IRB trainer and not only does he put members through his course, he runs all our IRB proficiencies as well as being an IRB driver and patrolling member. Sam is always ready and willing to assist the club in anything that he is asked and we congratulate Sam on this honour.

Congratulations to Jamee Smith who has successfully gained a place on the NSW 2018 Interstate Youth Team and will be traveling to South Australia next month to compete at the 2018 Interstate Championships. Well done Jamee. Follow the champs here!

Congratulations to Wanda Surf Life Saving Club's Director of Lifesaving Michael Bonnici for being awarded The Centre for Volunteering 2017 Volunteer of the Year for South Sydney! What a great achievement, well done Michael.

Well done to Wanda's Jamee Smith being selected in the Australian Youth Life Saving Team Squad who will have the chance to compete at next year’s Lifesaving World Championships in Adelaide. The 24 selected squad athletes will be joined by eight shadow squad members and one of them is our very own Brooke Dixon. Congratulations Jamee and Brooke.

The Harry Gibbons II boat, which was located on the sand dunes outside the clubhouse has found a new home at Forshaw Rugby Park at Southern Districts Rugby Club. The rugby club will now take care of the boat in its new home.

Congratulations to our our Finance Director Anne Caterson who has just WON the Cook Community Award 2016 in recognition of her valued contribution to our surf club and the local community. Well done Anne!!

Congratulations to John De Cean, our Director of Lifesaving and Director of Administration on being awarded Life Membership of Surf Lifesaving NSW. Well done John and thank you for your continuous support of Wanda SLSC.

Denny Rowlands and Brett Thatcher have completed the Silver Medallion Beach Management course delivered by Branch Facilitators. Congratulations guys on receiving this award. We are fortunate to have members like yourselves who complete more training and assist Wanda with their function of patrolling our beach.
